Vitamin E and protection of the immune system:
This vitamin has a higher concentration in immune cells than other blood cells and is one of the most effective substances known to modulate the immune system. Deficiency of this vitamin disrupts the normal functioning of the immune system. Although vitamin E deficiency is rare, vitamin E intake above the recommended dietary allowance has been shown to improve immune system function and reduce the risk of infection, especially in the elderly.Vitamin E supplement is useful in reducing several viral, bacterial and allergic diseases including asthma.
Vitamin E and coronary heart disease, cancer, eye problems and cognitive disorders:
There is a lot of evidence regarding the prevention and delay of coronary heart disease with the use of vitamin E, as well as the effect of this vitamin due to its antioxidant properties in cancer, eye diseases including cataracts and cognitive disorders including Alzheimer's disease. It is the research phase.
Interferences:
- Anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs (along with high doses of vitamin E).
- Simvastatin and niacin.
- Chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Side effects of taking high doses of vitamin E:
The possibility of poisoning with this vitamin is very low, but taking doses higher than 1000 mg per day can increase the risk of hemorrhagic stroke.
