This drug belongs to the penicillin family and is a bactericidal drug that inhibits the construction of the bacterial cell wall.

Indications

In the treatment of infections caused by streptococcus, meningococcus, gram-negative bacillus, spirochete and syphilis are common.

Breastfeeding: This drug is secreted in small amounts in breast milk and may cause allergic reactions, diarrhea, skin rashes and fungal infections in infants. Therefore, the benefits of medicine should be weighed against its harms.

Attention

Consult your doctor before taking this medicine in the following cases:

If you have a history of allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins, or other substances such as foods, preservatives, and dyes.

If you have allergic diseases (such as asthma, eczema, hay fever and hives) or any allergic history, Kidney disease, gastrointestinal diseases, congestive heart failure, monoceltosis, and internal bleeding.

If you have a sodium (salt) diet, this drug has a sodium content of 2.3 mEq per gram.

In case of taking any kind of medicine.

Precautions

In case of any symptoms of drug allergy, stop taking the drug and in case of severe allergies, emergency medical measures are required.

In order to help treat the infection, it is very important to take the medication at regular intervals and complete the course of treatment if you feel better, because stopping the medication prematurely will cause recurrence.

If your symptoms improve or even worsen within a few days, tell your doctor.

This medicine causes diarrhea in some patients, so avoid taking anti-diarrheal drugs arbitrarily and inform your doctor.

Oral contraceptives containing estrogen are less effective if taken at the same time as this drug, so the use of other contraceptive methods is recommended to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

This medication may cause a mistake in the results of the urine glucose test. Therefore, inform your doctor before changing your diet or dosage of diabetes medication.

This drug may cause a false positive result on the Coombs test.

This drug can cause seizures if given directly intravenously.

SideEffects

Any medication in parallel with the desired therapeutic effects may cause some unwanted effects. However, not all of these complications are seen in one person. However, consult your doctor if you experience any of the following complications:

Rare:

Hepatotoxicity, Nephritis, Mental disorders (depression), Seizure, Thrombocytopenia, injection site pain, leukopenia, and neutropenia.

Relatively common:

Allergic reactions, especially anaphylactic shock (with symptoms such as irregular, rapid and short breathing, swelling of the face, severe drop in blood pressure, and fainting). Exfoliative dermatitis (flaking and redness of the skin), sero-like reactions (with symptoms such as skin rash, joint pain and fever, skin rash, hives and itching.

Common:

Gastrointestinal complications (diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain), headache, Oral and vaginal candidiasis.

Poisoning:

Overdose can lead to symptoms of severe neuromuscular irritability and seizures, so it is important to inform your doctor immediately.

Dosage:

The dosage of the drug is determined by the doctor. However, the usual dosage of this drug is as follows:

Adults, adolescents and children weighing more than 20 kg:

250-500 mg every 3-6 hours intramuscularly or intravenously.

Infants and children weighing up to 20 kg:

12.5 mg per kilogram of body weight every 6 hours by intravenous or intramuscularly injection.

The maximum dosage for adults is 14 grams per day.

Note: If one dose of the drug is missed. It should be consumed immediately. But if it's time to take the next dose. Double use should be avoided.

How to take the medicine:

Ampixill® 250 mg:

After adding 1.4 and 5 ml of sterile injectable water, respectively, shake the blade well for intramuscular and intravenous injection. The solution is stable for up to one hour at room temperature. Note that the duration of direct injection is 3-5 minutes.

Ampixill® 500 mg:

After adding 1.5 and 5 ml of sterile water that can be injected for intramuscular and verbal injection, respectively, shake the vial well. The solution is stable for up to one hour at room temperature. Note that the duration of direct intravenous injection is 3-5 minutes.

Ampixill® 1 gram:

After adding 3 and 10 ml of injectable sterile water for intramuscular and intravenous injection respectively, shake the vial well. This solution is stable for up to one hour at room temperature.

Note that the duration of direct intravenous injection is 10-15 minutes.

Attention:

After the powder is completely dissolved, if you see foreign particles, do not inject.

For intravenous infusion. The concentration of the prepared solution should not be more than 30 mg/ml. This solution is stable for 2-8 hours at room temperature and 72 hours in the refrigerator.

Maintenance

  • Store the dry product at a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius and away from light.
  • Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
