UseDuringPregnancy

There are insufficient controlled studies with fluticasone and salmeterol in pregnant women, and this product should only be taken during pregnancy when its benefit to the mother is justified compared to the risk to the fetus. This product is in the classification of drugs for use during pregnancy in group C. The diffusion of fluticasone and salmeterol in breastfeeding mothers' milk has not been studied. This product should be used with caution in breastfeeding mothers.

Precautions

  1. During treatment with this product, it is better to check the usefulness and possible side effects of the drug during regular visits.
  2. It is not used to relieve acute asthma attacks. For this purpose, fast-acting beta2-agonists are used.
  3. This product should not be used as an initial treatment in patients with asthma, and if the patient does not respond to other asthma control drugs, this product should be used.
  4. Patients should be advised to use this product continuously as long as the treating physician wishes.
  5. It is recommended to rinse your mouth and gargle with water after each time you take the medicine, but rinse water should not be swallowed.
  6. In case you forget to take one dose of the drug. Take it as soon as you remember. Then use the remaining doses at regular drug intervals. Never double the dose of the drug
  7. Long-term consumption of fluticasone may lead to a slowdown in growth. The health and efficacy of this product has not been proven in children with asthma under 4 years of age.
  8. Bacterial, viral (chickenpox and measles) and candidiasis infections may worsen with this medication.
  9. Concomitant use of non-specific beta blockers (propranolol) may reduce the effect of salmeterol in airways. Concomitant use of this product with potassium depleting diuretics can increase hypokalemia.
  10. The simultaneous use of this product and ritonavir increases the blood concentration of fluticasone and therefore decreases the blood cortisol concentration.

SideEffects

The side effects of this product can include angioedema, paradoxical bronchospasm (unlike expected), cataracts, eosinophilia, allergic reactions, increased intraocular pressure (glaucoma), skin rashes and hives.

The dosage for adults and children over 12 years old is 2 puffs twice a day (12 hours apart).

Maintenance

  • Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
  • Avoid using expired medicine or keeping it longer than needed.
  • Keep the medicine away from heat, direct sunlight and at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
  • Avoid freezing the inhaler and keeping it at a low temperature, if the container is cold at the time of use, the effectiveness of the medicine will decrease.
  • Because the medicine container is full of gas and under pressure, avoid hitting it, piercing it or burning it, even if the container is empty.
